1989 –
• Opening of the Institute for Studies on Diabetes Foundation, Inc. (ISDFI)
• 1st batch of MSIM major in Diabetology (class 1989 – 1991)
1991 –
1992 –
• Established the Philippine Association of Diabetes Educators (PADE)
• Published 1st issue of Scribblings (official publication of ISDFI)
• ISDFI started participating in the annual diabetes summer camp in cooperation with Juvenile Diabetes Foundation (JDF)
• Aired radio program Diabetes on Air (every Friday and Saturday at 1082 DZEC Eagle Broadcasting Corporation).
1993 –
• 1st ISDFI Diabetes Mellitus (DM) workshops: Iloilo City, Pagadian City, La Union
• Launched the Philippine Society of Diabetologists (PSD)
• Published first-ever 30-day Menu Guide for Patients with Diabetes
• Opened free nutrition clinic
1994 –
• ISDFI was awarded a bronze medal for Health and Management Information System (HAMIS) with cash prize of PhP 50,000
• ISDFI workshops in Batac (ilocos Norte), Naga City, Pangasinan, General Santos City and Tuguegarao, Cagayan
• 1st CGDC Philippine Diabetes Congress (November 20, Manadaluyong City Sports Complex)
• ISDFI joined JDF in a Senate hearing on the proposed bill to create a Diabetes Commission
1995 –
• ISDFI workshops in Puerto Princesa, Palawan, Dagupan City, Batangas City and Cebu City
• Dr. Ricardo E. Fernando and Dr. Araceli A. Panelo were named mambers of the Department of Health (DOH) Diabetes Mellitus (DM) Advisory Council and Task Force on DM
• ISDFI tasked to conduct the 2nd National Diabetes Survey for DOH
• ISDFI Diabetes Nurse Educators were sent to Melbourne, Australia to participate in a diabetic foot workshop thru Australian Aide
• 2nd CGDC Philippine Diabetes Congress
• ISDFI sent Dr. Leorino Sobrepeña to a 3-month training with Dr. Fred Whitehouse at Henry Ford Hospital, Detroit Michigan
• Summer Camp with Juvenile Diabetes Foundation, Tagaytay
1996 –
• ISDFI workshops in Zamboanga City, Ozamis City, Bohol and Cagayan de Oro City
• ISDFI sponsored launch of Diabetes-Friendly Establishments
• ISDFI sent Dr. Marcelo Lim to a 2-month training at Henry Ford Hospital Detroit, Michigan
• 3rd CGDC Philippine Diabetes Congress
• Summer Camp with Juvenile Diabetes Foundation, April 1-6
• Helpline sa 9 (on RPN 9) featured the ISDFI faculty about issues on Diabetes (10 Minute interview every Friday)
1997 –
• ISDFI won another award from HAMIS
